Wednesday was apparently a magical day. Sadie's been taking a few steps for awhile now - usually just a couple at a time and with major coaxing - but just hasn't been too interested in walking. Then on Wednesday, out of nowhere, she just started walking and hasn't really stopped since . . . like she's been doing it all her life, silly girl!

Pictures!
Amidst the chaos of our last few weeks in Washington, we managed to squeeze in Sadie's one year pictures. It was a crazy cold day, but Sadie, as usual, was a trooper. She had a few shivers, but kept smiling and hamming it up for our photographer. Derek and I snuck into a few shots, too, along with a very special guest . . . We love the results and hope you will, too!

One!
Sadie turned one on Sunday! I still can't believe it. It really feels like just a month ago that Derek and I nervously brought her home from the hospital. And now she's an active, chatty, increasingly independent toddler!
Always ready for a party, our little sweetheart loved every minute of her party . . . our guests the Colliers and Uncle Todd, who made a surprise visit to OK for the occasion, the candle on her cupcake, being serenaded, and opening her gifts all solicited lots of smiles, giggles and claps of delight.
But the highlight, of course, was the cake. She was a little unsure of what to do at first . . . for about a second. Then she grabbed a fistful of frosting, stuffed it in her mouth and subsequently demolished the thing. She loved it! Left barely a crumb behind (and that was in her hair!).
Needless to say, it was a very special day. We've been incredibly blessed with and by our sweet Sadie and look forward to the many adventures this next year holds!

Months 10 & 11
Things have been a little crazy in RhinoLand these days. In case you hadn't heard, we're in the process of moving to beautiful, exotic Altus, Oklahoma! Amidst the chaos of the past few weeks, the blog has been a little . . . well . . . neglected. But since we're quickly rounding the corner to Sadie's first birthday, I thought you might like a little update on all the princess has been up to lately. So without further adieu . . .
Our big girl outgrew her carseat! Yeah, she's really that big . . . someone actually asked me the other day if she was two. Seriously?! She's not that big, but still . . . Anyway, she's very proud of her new one, and is riding much more comfortably these days.
November brought a blizzard to Puyallup. And by blizzard, I mean three inches of snow. But that was enough to pretty much incapacitate the entire Seattle metro area for a few days. We pretty much stayed around the house for most of that time, but did bundle up a couple of times to enjoy Sadie's first snowfall!
One of Sadie's newest activities is emptying out "her" drawer in the kitchen. She has a great time playing with all the tupperware and sippy cups, and it usually buys me a few minutes in which I can get a few things around for dinner. We're still working on cleaning up, though . . . apparently putting things away isn't nearly as entertaining.

Reading the instructions for her new seat. Safety first!
Opening an early Christmas present from Papa and Grandma Rhinesmith. Just like her mama, the girl loves presents!
